Ethics & Fair play

At Sports Federation Aotearoa, we are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and promoting fair play in all our activities. This commitment is integral to our mission of securing our legacy on the world stage and setting new trends in sportsmanship.

A humble winner, a gracious second

For Sports Federation Aotearoa, 'Ethics & Fair Play' means being a humble winner and a gracious runner-up. It's about cheering for other players, officials, behind-the-scenes workers, water persons, umpires, referees, coaches, and supporters. It also means avoiding performance-enhancing drugs, which are considered unwise.

Leading by example

Sports Federation Aotearoa ensures ethics and fair play by encouraging clean plays and addressing misconduct with a quiet word on the side. All members are expected to maintain a professional attitude on and off the field, and as spectators. To uphold these standards, we lead by example, especially for our Rangatahi (youth), understanding that "monkey see, monkey do."

Maintaining integrity on the world stage

The main challenge for Sports Federation Aotearoa in maintaining ethics and fair play on the world stage revolves around inadvertent doping. To mitigate this, we have implemented compulsory drug testing six weeks before any major or minor event, as well as before and after events. Positive results are thoroughly researched, assessed, and acted upon accordingly to safeguard our reputation.

Raising a concern

If there are concerns about Sports Federation Aotearoa not playing fair, our policy is to take full responsibility for verified complaints. We will rectify situations, offer sincere apologies, and provide reimbursement if applicable. An internal investigation and audit will follow, with amendments made for future incidents. False accusations or rants will be met with Draconian measures, reflecting our tribal values.
